Fiction:
The first book of the Genevieve Lenard series is free on Amazon, and believe me, once you start this series, you cannot help but read the rest.  Genevieve is a high functioning Autistic who works for a very high-end security company in Strasbourg. She is a world-renowned expert in body language and can see the true intent behind people's words and actions.  During this first case, her life is taken over by an Interpol investigator, hacker, art thief, and muscle.  Her life will never be controlled and regulated again. The series is full of action, suspense and humour.  A definite must-read.

B J Bourg has a couple of crime series available.  I like London Carter, who is a sniper  with a police department in the swamp district of Louisiana.  There is enough heart-stopping moments as well as twists that you will not see coming.  Try this one and maybe some of his other books might tickle your fancy.

Jo Nesbo was not the first Scandinavian author I have read, but he is the first that had me hooked, and I have read many more of his Harry Hole series.  For those who have seen the Snowman film, I have to say that the book is much better.  The books are raw and graphic.  Harry is a drunk and sometimes a lousy human being, but he is an extraordinary cop.  Be warned that, like Stieg Larson, these books are not for the easily affected.  Be brave and take the plunge.

Carolyn  Arnold has two series, the Brandon Fisher series and Madison Knight.  The former is about an FBI agent and the latter about a cop in England.  The stories are real and also very graphic, but less so than those of Jo Nesbo.  The plots are riveting, and you are confronted with real characters with flaws and mistakes but ultimately good at their job.  Great police procedurals to read, find them on Smashwords

Rick Mofina is a master at multi-plot suspense writing.  He takes many apparent unconnected plots and weaves a story that leaves you sitting at the edge of your seat, not wanting to put down the book.  His writing is clear and creates the usual sense of anticipation that one would expect from a thriller writer.  If you are a bit sensitive to graphic images, this might be more up your alley. Celina Grace is the author of the Kate Redman Mysteries.  Kate is a police detective in England carrying her own baggage while returning to work under the scrutiny of everyone she works with.  This is an excellent police procedural and a series worth the read.

Blake Pierce is one of my favourite crime writers because he has strong female characters that get tangled up in criminal investigations and real life.  The stories are believable and the kind that you do not want to put down.  I would recommend any of his series,  Be on the lookout for his bundles that are often free and contain starters for most of his series. Another favourite is the Rebekka Franck series from Willow Rose.  This is a Danish crime series.  Rebekka is a reporter who moves home to her small home town after she leaves her husband.  She works at a small paper but has the experience to see a good story and chase it.  I love this series but once again, remember the books are graphic.

Join Lei Texeira for crime and mystery from the beautiful islands of Hawaii.  Lei is a detective with lots of baggage and lots of guts, and great instinct in solving cases. Lei looks for missing backpackers, human traffickers and drug sellers, all while trying to sort out her damaged psyche. Once again, this is a series with authentic characters living in the real world.  You can find similar books on Smashwords

This was a book that looked straightforward but, in the end, threw me.  The plot is creative, and you will not see through it until the end.
A small town, a broken-down car, a marriage in trouble. A murder. Who can you trust...

A must-read.

Keep an eye on my blog as I will also share my favourite Cozy Mysteries, Fantasy and Paranormal books.

Happy reading
