In the heart of Lousiana Bayou country, this small Parish Sheriff's office has a group of dedicated snipers on staff.  London Carter is the leader of this select group and is a dedicated police officer who has the task of taking a life if there is no other option left. In this, the first in the series we are introduced to London Carter and his teammates.  They are confronted with a sniper who is killing off the captains in the Sheriff's office.  London has to figure out who the sniper is and in the process, he uncovers a coverup of an incident twenty years previously. The case rocks the police force of Magnolia Parish and will leave the snipers with a sense of loss and betrayal. This is a good series and had me binge reading again.  The stories are riveting and well written and something different from the run off the mill police procedurals.  It makes a good break from the norm and focuses on a part of police work n

I have read a lot this year and was wondering what my next review should be about.  I have to be "inside," my writing thought process. This means I have to have a good quote that would catch the eye.  I was thinking over all the books and then came upon Catching Echoes in my Bookbub recommended list.   To be honest, the cover did affect my choice, but once I started reading I just knew I would need to read the following two novels in the trilogy.  I was a good way into Tangled Echoes when I knew I found the quote that unlocked this review. This has caused him to withdraw from society. He befriends a young woman through a letter he stole from her aunt and ends up marrying her to save her from a loveless marriage.  Then the Curbains find out what he has done and he discovers that he has a family who loves and adores him and his new wife. The Valiant love series is a wonderful read. Every book is a mystery to open and explore and has a fresh story to offer. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good clean book with passion and a look into the vulnerability of the character. There just is an absolute difference between American, British and Danish crime novels. Through the eyes of cynical and troubled policemen, you see a different side of the country and what the life of fighting crime does to a person. The Danish authors are straightforward and do not sugarcoat anything.  They call it as they see it and write brutal honest stories. In this Jesper Stein Novel, we meet Axel Steen, a troubled investigator whose supervisor sorely wants him gone and knows that he closes cases.  Steen is divorced with a five-year-old daughter whom he loves very much.  He lives in Norrebro, a mixed district that is rife with violence.  During violent riots, Steen is called out to a murder that took place amidst heavy police presence. Steen has to solve the crime and prove the police were not involved. He has to do all this while keeping his daugh

*I received this book from the author for an honest review* At one time all Language teachers have felt that they could strangle the next person to split an infinitive or misuse a pronoun or punctuation marks. Grazine, the main character in this book is someone who reads frequently and became fed up with the multitude of grammar mistakes and typo's found in many of the books that are available today.  The book is set in the future and shows that grammar and proofreading will continue on the downward curve it has been on                                              the last few years. In the second part of the story, our murder is a guest on the Dark Web, where she explains why she murders and the identity of her next target.  The audience tries to find hidden meaning in her killings but ultimately it comes down to the fact that people write as they like without bothering to proofread before they publish and that it is unacceptable for someone that is a "gramma

I received this book as an ARC and will give my honest opinion. I have read Hazed by the same author so I had an idea of the type of relationship issues that could be touched upon in the book. The author has a unique way of writing about real people with real problems. How many people do we know that run away when things become tough. They just pick up and leave without communicating their fears and reasons for panic. Natalie starts by lies by omission and as far as she goes she tends to continue this pattern. What I do notice is that the characters have trouble communicating, which leads to breaks in their relationships. I am not a big fan of these kinds of books as they tend to affect me negatively, I find it sad that there may be people out there who live their lives like this. However, it is a realistic book and I would recommend it for those who do not wish to travel too far into fiction when they read and who wants to read about other people's mistakes.                  

Asher Curbain is the Perfect Duke. He places duty before himself and wants to see everyone content but locks himself away behind walls as thick as his country estate's. Lady Wycliff just wants to be independent and have nobody decide her life for her. Ms. Wilson delivers in the third book of the Valiant love series. She produces real characters with depth and pulls you into the story that you cannot put the book down. She writes good clean stories with virtue and honour that is rare in today's literature. Sometimes you just want to read a story with good energy and chemistry without the sex thrown in. I would recommend this and the previous books with pleasure and I cannot wait for Valiant's story next. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
