"I don't know who Locke is, but my name is Clark, and you can't go back there" The Fractured Empire by Robin D Mahle.                                                                                                    click on the image to go to amazon I love a good fantasy. I have been looking for something that can lift my spirits and keep me motivated and invested in the story. The fractured Empire was sent to me in exchange for an hone st review. I can not be more honest. It was a great read, so much so that I had to get the next instalment, The Tempest sea. The characters are well rounded with interesting and explanatory backstories that you come to know through chapters that take you back to memories of the specific characters. Clark and Addie are thrown together due to circumstances neither of them saw coming. Their tenuous relationship highlights the importance of getting to know someone and that keeping secrets never helps a relationship. Nonetheless, they

The World Encyclopedia of Serial Killers

Image
I have been a great fan of True Crime for a while now. The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers is a worthwhile and amazing read because it sorts the known serial killers, even from way back in history. The encyclopedia comes in instalments, which indicates how many serial killers there have been and which have been documented.  There are four volumes that make up the Encyclopedia. This is an awesome read for any fan of true crime, and the detail that the author managed to accumulate is mind-blowing. A recommended read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Enigma of Ted Bundy by Kevin Sullivan

click on the image to go to amazon There are followers of true crime who have a particular fascination for Ted Bundy as he was essentially the guy next door.  This book by Kevin Sullivan gives a detailed rendition of the police reports available as well as of the victimology for those who want more information on Bundy than was previously available.   The author attempts to find answers to some of the nagging questions that have come up through the years. This is a good read and it contains an immense amount of information that will hold your attention until the book is finished.  There are however small instances where some knowledge about certain facts in the investigation is needed. Maybe the author could add some of this information in a foreword. For example: In the police report it is mentioned that there is a tear in his vehicle's seat, the relevance and importance of this fact is uncertain if you are a first time reader

Best Foot Forward - Martin Svolgart

I chose to review this book as I like a good thriller or police procedural. What I received surprised me. As many books deal with downtrodden or idealistic policemen or PI's, this was refreshing something different. Reminiscent of Wiseguy back in the '80s, the main character is a good guy who got out of a life of crime. It is ironic that by doing a good thing, he is pulled back into that life. The book is believable and was a pleasure to read. So many books leave you on the edge of criminal families and the way they function. This story was just a little short for me. I do like an excellent thick book. It was a pleasure to read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Welcome to Magnolia Parish Sheriff's Office. In the heart of Lousiana Bayou country, this small Parish Sheriff's office has a group of dedicated snipers on staff.  London Carter is the leader of this select group and is a dedicated police officer who has the task of taking a life if there is no other option left. In this, the first in the series we are introduced to London Carter and his teammates.  They are confronted with a sniper who is killing off the captains in the Sheriff's office.  London has to figure out who the sniper is and in the process, he uncovers a coverup of an incident twenty years previously. The case rocks the police force of Magnolia Parish and will leave the snipers with a sense of loss and betrayal. This is a good series and had me binge reading again.  The stories are riveting and well written and something different from the run off the mill police procedurals.  It makes a good break from the norm and focuses on a part of police work n
