However, I was pleasantly surprised.  I could feel Ruby's sense of freedom and peace as she hiked in the area surrounding her new home.  A home her mother had bought before...and now she and her aunt, who was more like a mother to her, had come to make a new life for themselves. I have been looking for something that can lift my spirits and keep me motivated and invested in the story. The fractured Empire was sent to me in exchange for an hone st review. I can not be more honest. It was a great read, so much so that I had to get the next instalment, The Tempest sea. The characters are well rounded with interesting and explanatory backstories that you come to know through chapters that take you back to memories of the specific characters. Clark and Addie are thrown together due to circumstances neither of them saw coming. Their tenuous relationship highlights the importance of getting to know someone and that keeping secrets never helps a relationship. Nonetheless, they

  I have been a great fan of True Crime for a while now. The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers is a worthwhile and amazing read because it sorts the known serial killers, even from way back in history. The encyclopedia comes in instalments, which indicates how many serial killers there have been and which have been documented.  There are four volumes that make up the Encyclopedia. This is an awesome read for any fan of true crime, and the detail that the author managed to accumulate is mind-blowing. A recommended read.                                                       click on the image to go to amazon There are followers of true crime who have a particular fascination for Ted Bundy as he was essentially the guy next door.  This book by Kevin Sullivan gives a detailed rendition of the police reports available as well as of the victimology for those who want more information on Bundy than was previously available.   The author attempts to find answers to some of the nagging questions that have come up through the years. This is a good read and it contains an immense amount of information that will hold your attention until the book is finished.  There are however small instances where some knowledge about certain facts in the investigation is needed. Maybe the author could add some of this information in a foreword. For example: In the police report it is mentioned that there is a tear in his vehicle's seat, the relevance and importance of this fact is uncertain if you are a first time reader

  I chose to review this book as I like a good thriller or police procedural. What I received surprised me. As many books deal with downtrodden or idealistic policemen or PI's, this was refreshing something different. Reminiscent of Wiseguy back in the '80s, the main character is a good guy who got out of a life of crime. It is ironic that by doing a good thing, he is pulled back into that life. The book is believable and was a pleasure to read. So many books leave you on the edge of criminal families and the way they function. This story was just a little short for me. I do like an excellent thick book. It was a pleasure to read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As we live in an actual sci-fi event, we need to escape to worlds where anything is possible. So we have lots of time to catch up on reading.
